Epoxy Floor Coating Services in Grand Rapids, MI

Garage floors, basement floors, pool decks and commercial floors. Every one gets the same hybrid epoxy and polyaspartic system, installed by our own trained crews, backed by the same lifetime warranty.

We don't sell a simple epoxy floor. We install a hybrid epoxy polyaspartic system designed for the demanding climate of the Midwest.

Epoxy Garage Floor Coating in Grand Rapids

The job most people call us for, and the one our system was built around.

A garage floor takes more abuse than any other slab in the house. Hot tires soften ordinary coatings until they lift off in sheets, road salt works into the concrete every winter, and oil, brake fluid and dropped tools finish what the weather started. A single coat of epoxy from a big-box kit is not built for that, which is why so many of the floors we replace are only a year or two old.

We install a hybrid system instead: diamond grinding down to clean concrete, a moisture-mitigating epoxy layer, a pigmented epoxy base coat, decorative flake broadcast to full coverage, then a UV-stable polyaspartic clear coat. The result handles hot-tire pickup, wipes clean with a mop, and will not yellow where sunlight comes through the door.

A good fit if your garage floor is bare, stained, pitted, or covered in a failing epoxy paint you want gone.

What's included

  • Diamond ground, never acid etched
  • No hot-tire pickup or peeling
  • Oil, salt, brake fluid and chemical resistant
  • Will not yellow in UV light
  • Cracks and pitting repaired as part of the job
  • Lifetime warranty against peeling and delamination

Basement Floor Epoxy Coating in Grand Rapids

Finished, sealed living space without framing, subfloor or carpet.

Basements are where moisture decides everything. Water vapor moves up through a below-grade slab continuously, and any coating without a vapor barrier underneath will eventually be pushed off from below, no matter how well it was applied. This is exactly the failure our first layer exists to prevent, and it is why basement floor epoxy is one of the jobs we are most confident quoting.

A coated basement floor is warmer underfoot than bare concrete, seals against damp, resists mold, and cleans up after a leak instead of being ruined by one. It turns an unfinished basement into usable space for a fraction of what framing and flooring costs, and unlike carpet or laminate it does not have to come out if the sump backs up.

A good fit for finishing a basement, a home gym, a workshop, or any slab that has always felt cold and damp.

What's included

  • Moisture-mitigating epoxy layer as standard
  • Seals against damp and vapor from below
  • Mold and mildew resistant
  • Warmer underfoot than bare concrete
  • Survives a leak that would destroy carpet or laminate
  • Choice of flake or solid color finishes

Pool Deck & Patio Coating in Grand Rapids

Cooler, grippier concrete around water, and it stays that color.

Pool decks and patios have the opposite problem to a garage: less chemical abuse, far more sun and far more water. Ordinary epoxy is the wrong material outdoors because it chalks and yellows under UV. Our polyaspartic topcoat is 100% UV-stable, so a deck we coat looks the same in five summers as it did in the first.

Safety is the other half. We can add extra anti-slip aggregate into the clear coat for anywhere that gets wet underfoot, and the finish stays noticeably cooler than dark or bare concrete in direct sun.

A good fit for a pool surround, patio or porch that is stained, slippery, too hot to walk on, or simply looks tired.

What's included

  • 100% UV-stable, will not yellow or chalk
  • Extra anti-slip aggregate available
  • Cooler underfoot than bare or dark concrete
  • Resists pool chemicals and freeze-thaw
  • Covers stained, tired or patched concrete
  • Suits pool surrounds, patios, porches and walkways

Commercial Epoxy Flooring in Grand Rapids

Rated for the traffic a house never sees, installed around your hours.

Commercial and industrial floors are specified differently: the question is not how it looks on day one but what it survives and how long you have to close to get it. Our commercial systems are built for forklift traffic, heavy point loads, wash-down areas and the chemical exposure that comes with real work.

Because polyaspartic cures so much faster than epoxy, we can usually turn a space around far quicker than a traditional epoxy contractor, and we schedule around your operating hours instead of the other way around.

A good fit for warehouses, workshops, showrooms, commercial kitchens, garages and wash bays.

What's included

  • Rated for forklift and heavy point-load traffic
  • Wash-down and chemical resistant
  • Fast cure means less downtime
  • Anti-slip options for wet or wash-down areas
  • Line marking and zone colors available
  • Scheduled around your operating hours

Fast Installation: Most Floors Finished in Two Days

Every GatorGuard floor in Grand Rapids is installed by our own highly-trained, in-house installers. We do not subcontract the work out, so the people who quote your job are the people who do it and the people who warranty it.

  1. Before

    Free in-home estimate

We measure the floor, inspect the concrete for cracks and moisture, and show you the flake and color samples. You get a written, no-obligation quote on the spot. No charge and no pressure.

  2. Day 1

    Grind, repair, prime and color

Our crew moves your belongings out, diamond grinds the slab down to clean concrete, repairs cracks and pitting, then applies the moisture-mitigating epoxy and the pigmented base coat with decorative flake broadcast to rejection.

  3. Day 2

    Buff, seal and final walkthrough

We buff the excess flake back to a smooth surface and apply the UV-stable polyaspartic clear coat. Then we walk the finished floor with you before we leave.

  4. After

Walk on it in 24 hours, park on it in 72

Polyaspartic cures much faster than epoxy. You can walk on the floor 24 hours after the final coat, we come back at 48 hours to move your belongings in, and you can park on it at 72. The floor is covered by our lifetime warranty from day one.

Low-VOC and low-odor materials

Our materials are low-VOC and low-odor (where applicable), posing no more harm than the smell of a new car or new carpet, which minimizes any lingering chemical smell much faster during the curing process.
